"I Am Malala" Student Book Talk

Hello, my name is Nicole Pardol and I am reading the book, “I am Malala”, by Malala Yousafzai. After discussing Malala’s story in class, I was inspired so much that I decided to read her book on my own and share summaries from various chapters with the class. Here are some fascinating parts from her first two chapters.

 • When Malala was born her father believed she was gifted.
 • Her father, Ziauddin, a poet/school owner, was very passionate about education for women.
 • Malala often describes her early life as troubled and tough due to what was going on in Pakistan at the time.
 • Malala was born at home because her parents could not afford insurance or the hospital fees.
 • Malala became dedicated at a young age about education.
